How to elect a president in 100 days
Join "Women Wednesdays for Harris" to keep your Zoom energy zooming
Last week, inspired by the incredible organizing of Jotaka Eaddy, who coordinated the Win with Black Women Zoom just hours after Kamala Harris announced her candidacy, other Zooms to support Kamala Harris broke participation records, raising over $20 million for her campaign. If you were one of those Zoomers, you’re probably fired up and ready to join a broader movement that builds on the energy to elect Kamala Harris in November.
Here’s the next step: register right now for the new “Women Wednesdays for Harris” weekly Zooms co-hosted by me and Leah Greenberg, the co-founder of Indivisible, the grassroots org that stepped in to help coordinate and manage the “Answer the Call 2024” Zoom. Indivisible helps activists and aspiring activists find strategic ways to take action and then connects them in the community to amplify their work.
“Women Wednesdays for Harris” calls will inform and support your activism, including plugging you into the Kamala Harris campaign, building community to organize locally, and taking regular and strategic actions to help elect Kamala Harris and a democratic trifecta that will pass democracy reform, guarantee reproductive freedom, and more.
So many women have reached out to me since last week to ask how they can do more to help elect Kamala Harris. Each week we’ll walk you through a new way to do just that (and we’ll be joined by some special guests!). Here’s how to get started:
RSVP for our first Women’s Wednesday Zoom on Wed., Aug. 7, to learn how you can help mobilize your community behind Kamala Harris and other Democratic candidates.
Invite at least three friends or send them the sign-up link. Organizing locally starts with engaging your network and community to create a broad coalition. We are more powerful together.
Take action. If you’re eager to get going right away, you can sign up to make calls and knock doors for Harris as early as this weekend. You can volunteer directly through the campaign or through Indivisible’s Majority Over MAGA site.
Make sure that however and wherever you get involved, you keep the work going for the next 90-something days and then after the election, too. Your time, effort, and network can help build an inclusive, pro-democracy movement that will throw Trump in the dustbin of history and elect the first woman, first Black woman, and South Asian woman president of the United States.
Because when we organize, we win.
Observing from abroad and first, thank you for building critical momentum necessary at home. Please, please encourage everyone to vote, make a plan to vote, encourage family and friends to vote. All the fundraising and organizing will be for naught if folks don't vote. Remember, election season starts in LESS THAN 100 days. In my hometown of Washington, DC, ballots will be mailed out September 30. That means I can vote on October 1. 🔥
BRAVO!
