From Mitt Romney's tea to red pleather skirts to tongue kissing bachelors
Iām going to try to swing by this exhibit of American quilts from different time periods and cultures at New York City's American Folk Art Museum while Iām in town next week.
This conversation with Sen. Mitt Romney was something ā he really spilled the tea on his Republican colleagues in Congress. ā
Iām loving the show Still Upā¦ Quirky but not corny rom-com about two best friends bonded by insomnia and how they stay connected throughout the night.
However, the jury is still out on whether I can continue to endure the Golden Bachelor (a fellow Hoosier!). So, so much tongue kissing and cryingā¦ But I canāt look away. š
I just splurged on this cherry red pleather skirt for an event in NYC. Itās the color of the season and I can wear it with anything. š
I also bought this Barbie pink Boden winter wool coat ā itās a steal compared to the cost of other long, dressy winter coats at department storesā¦
While we wait for new music from Frank Ocean, Omar Apollo (also a fellow Hoosier from Hobart) is scratching my āintrospective psych-soul balladeerā itch. š¶
Other new music Iām loving: āIn the Throesā by Buddy & Julie Miller; āJavelinā by Sufjan Stevens; āThe Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princessā by Chappell Roan; āI Am What Iām Waiting Forā by Kendra Morris.
Speaking of music, I just got tickets to see U2 in The Sphere later this month and cannot wait š¤
If you havenāt read the book āThe Heartās Invisible Furiesā by John Boyle, you must. Like right now. The book is reportedly being turned into a television series by director Ridley Scott. š
Other books I highly recommend: āOn Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to be Good,ā by
; āBurn It Down: Power, Complicity, and a Call for Change in Hollywoodā by Maureen Ryan; and āThe Many Daughters of Afong Moyā by .Also recently listened to this long-read ā āMy Delirious Trip to the Heart of Swiftiedomā ā in the New York Times magazine via the newspaperās new audio app. Itās about the people you meet sitting in the nosebleed section of Taylor Swiftās Eras tour. I donāt think thereās anyone who writes a better celebrity profile than Taffy Brodesser-Akner. š°
If I told you how many podcasts I listen to per week, you wouldnāt believe me. A few recent episodes I found riveting: āHow to be less judgmental (of other people and yourselfā on Ten Percent Happier; āContending with fearā on Pulling the Thread; āIām here to ask the important questionsā on Vibe Check. š§
I just returned from Japan and I think this would make an amazing gameshow. š
Let me know if you enjoyed these recommendationsā¦ This is the first newsletter format Iāve done. Happy Friday and have the weekend you deserve!
DAMNNNN those Mitt Romney quotes! š„š„š„
Love these recommendations. I'm a huge U2 fan and have been since I was in high school in the 80's. Have seen all of their concerts they have had in DC.
The pleather skirt--gorgeous. Hope you post some pics so we can see how fabulous you look in it.
