I started having kids in 1995 and the subsequent decade is a blur — that might be why I knew almost nothing about David Beckham or Posh Spice before watching the “documentary” Beckham on Netflix. Twenty years later, I’m obsessed with this very cute family who survived some horrific abuse from the media, and their fans, too. 📺
How can you resist this adorable “Islands in the Stream” shuffle, which has amassed hundreds of millions of views and spurred countless copycats on TikTok? 💃
The next time you’re in Baltimore, check out the work of Derrick Adams at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Adams, who works in a variety of mediums — including painting, sculpture, collage, performance, video, and public art — is best known for his canvases depicting scenes of Black joy. 🎨
Also, read this article about how Adams is creating The Black Baltimore Digital Database, a community center dedicated to cataloging the accomplishments of local Black citizens: “The Mac-store-meets-library with a digital archive lab, art gallery, and screening room was kickstarted by a $1.25-million Mellon Foundation grant; a fundraising campaign is underway for the building’s construction.” 🏗️
Some of my favorite podcasts in the past week: The New York Times’ “The Daily” gives behind-the-scenes details of what happened when Adidas terminated its multibillion-dollar partnership with Kanye West; I love these stories and memories on NPR’s “All Songs Considered” from people about what they discovered and took away from their parents' record collections; I’ll die mad about the fact that an entire generation of women was deprived of menopause hormone therapy — “How To!” explains how it happened. 🎙️
Something to think about as we gear up for the 2024 election: The next Republican president could effectively ban most abortions through a simple policy change at the Justice Department. Vote accordingly. 🗳️
New music alert! Dolly Parton’s 49th album, “Rockstar,” includes covers of classics like “Stairway to Heaven” and features cameos from Paul McCartney and Joan Jet; the flute-heavy “New Blue Sun” by André 3000 is his first album in 17 years since leaving Outkast; the South African jazz album “Rainbow Revisited” by Thandi Ntuli and featuring Carlos Niño is being called “exquisitely minimal jazz.” 🎶
When I need comfort, I turn to Queer Eye. The show’s saccharine sweet rehabs of lives and homes make me sob in the most awkward places, including a 10-hour plane ride to Japan — the flight attendant kept asking if I was ok. Anyhoo, I’m sad that Bobby Berk was allegedly “asked to leave” the show due to issues with the cast. 👀
Homeschooling in America shot up during the pandemic — and it appears to be here to stay. Many families tried homeschooling after experiencing the flaws of pandemic-era virtual learning, and they found a whole host of reasons to stick with it — including a fear of school shootings. Godspeed, patient parents. 🏫
I can’t unsee this Vogue photo shoot with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, so now you can’t either. 😭

Crying on a plane over beautiful moments is underrated! I had to stop watching Queer Eye in part because Bobby's workload stressed me out. Poor Bobbers. However JVN is a precious brilliant angel on this earth so if Bobby was fighting with him, Bobby's gotta go. Re Bezos, money can't buy you class 🎶 or prevent you from living out your Top Gun fantasies for all to see.
Love these! Thanks 💖.
