Can't wait to see the photos with you, Kamala, and Oprah. And you were a BOSS when you spoke! Thank you so much for all you are giving to this campaign.

I have been following your career in activism for years and have been so impressed with all the work you've done with Moms Demand Action. And now hearing your answer last week, I was so impressed with your poise, your answer, and your willingness to be there to do the work and show up.

I've been involved in activism promoting progressive values in my community since January 2017. When I work up after the 2016 election, I felt ashamed that I did not help out Hillary's campaign. I assumed she would win.

Over the years, I've seen how hard the women in my community have worked to promote Democratic candidates and now I have also decided to get out of my comfort zone. As a fellow introvert, I've been afraid to canvass.

But no more.

I have been out knocking on doors for Vice President Kamala Harris for the last several weekend. Last weekend the group I went with knocked on more than 600 doors and I did 40 of them.

I share this story because I want to be honest: I was afraid to go canvassing, but I overcame that fear because I do not want to look my children in the eye and tell them that I didn't go all in to support Vice President Kamala Harris. I sat on the sidelines back in 2016 and I've regretted that ever since.

Not this time.

Now I'm a white dude who's knocking on doors and writing postcards.

Since 2017, I've realized that in order to save my country, I need to be of service to it.

Thank you for all Jotaka Eaddy, you, and all the other organizes do to help. Your example has given me the courage I've needed to step up.

Thank you!

This read was like being on a thrill ride. Thank you for this. And to everyone who set their fears aside and brought us together for this consequential evening. I am talking with white women every day and encouraging my daughters and daughter in-law to do so as well. It is heartbreaking to find people we know and love caught in that space of denying themselves freedoms. But we keep gently shining that bit of light for them. Trying to show them the way. Your leadership in pulling us together, calling (some of us) out on our own behalf! I love it and adore you for doing this work. Back to canvassing here in Madison. I’ll sleep when I’m dead to quote our new friend from Minnesota.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your message to white women was perfect. I’m actively trying to persuade the women in my circles. I’ve found that “being curious” about why they’d support the other candidate has opened up opportunities to engage and inform. 💙🇺🇸💙

Good idea on the "being curious" part. And good advice for all of us when approaching people with different views.

You sounded perfect when you spoke. We, as introverts, always think of the worst parts that we THINK we did when speaking. And when we go back and listen we rarely find those mistakes or those bad spikes in our voices that we so feared. I have been doing this for almost 9 years now and I still always get nervous right before I know I have to go on zoom and start speaking or in front of a live audience somewhere. I think being an introvert that feeling we have will never go away. But the one thing I have learned is not to dwell on that thought of something is going to go wrong. When you continue to think of what will go wrong, that is what you manifest. But when you keep saying, I am going to be fine, I know what I am going to say and its going to work out, than that is what you will manifest. It is all about positive thinking. And that takes work, but it really does help.
