This was like a warm hug from a good friend. Thank you so much! I have been struggling the last few days with those exact dueling questions: Is over half of America really that racist and misogynistic? Or are they just some combination of disinformed, ignorant, apathetic, under-educated, or, like you said - desperate for a more affordable life. Although I know people have even subconscious prejudice, I think focusing on that breeds more hate. I’m choosing to focus on outreach and education being the solution. Diving into “Democracy in Retrograde” and putting on my Rookie Activist hat.
I look forward to more of these! Massive thanks to both of you!

I cannot thank you enough for this. I haven't been on NNN as much because I've been distancing a lot from Instagram, so it was wonderful to see you and Jessica and in the same place. Hearing what Jessica said about people who voted for Trump felt like a huge weight off of my chest. I was having so many strong emotions and black & white thoughts about people who voted for Trump in the aftermath of the election, and I knew they would only fuel disdain, disgust, and hatred in me. It's helpful to get a better understanding in order to be more clear-headed and therefore eventually more motivated to get back in the arena.
I'm also noticing that I had some unrealistic expectation of myself to be sort of "fine" after a few days of processing, and now almost two weeks out I'm still feeling a little off. It's helpful to hear Jessica say that giving ourselves 2 weeks to recover might be a great plan.
Shannon, I am so grateful to have been introduced to you on the "Answer the Call" virtual meeting - you inspire me to do more and believe that what I do can have an impact.
I was just able to watch this, and thank you so, so much! This really encapsulated a lot of what I've been thinking and feeling this past week, and I am so impressed by both of you!
Thank you Shannon. After viewing this, I've decided to make monthly donations to Racies Texas (raicestexas.org) and Moms Demand Action. We have to keep fighting.
Jessica, I have a question about your cereal story. Of course people voted out of desperation, but it was still majority white. Black and Brown families are also struggling with the same exact economic conditions and yet voted for Kamala. How do we reach those white voters?
Thank you for this. I am in the dumps but commiseration and talking about ways to move forward really helps. I’ve shared this on Facebook and it seems like the reach of Substack is not very wide. Can it be shared on other social media too? Apologies if it is already.
Please do more of these. This was really cathartic.

I'm not on social media, so I really appreciate you finding another way of reaching out!!!!!

Thanks for a few statements about states not letting him act on certain issues. It's a sigh of relief.

Thank you! I really needed this! ❤️🩹
Best thing to happen this week. Thank you.
Thank you, ladies.
This is great! Exactly what I need right now as I'm regrouping and researching possible actions before committing to a new path. Thank you both!

Yeah, but today’s Supreme Court doesn’t really care about precedent, right?
I live in Maryland and I am so grateful for that.
As a grandmother, I plan to step up for my adult children and my sweet grandchildren.
Thank you for your words.
