This was an amazing conversation (I watched it live) and Jess is doing incredible work not just in MO but all over the midwest. Biggest takeaway - We have to have candidates in every race. Even in places where it's going to be nearly impossible to win. People can't choose better leaders if they aren't on the ballot.

I'm a snowbird who lives in Washington state most of the year and votes there. The rest of the year I'm in your new neck of the woods, I live in St. Petersburg. And I can tell you that there is a blue wave in the Tampa Bay Area. It is so exciting. We have a St. Petersburg Women's group on Facebook. 18 months ago we started with 30 members and now are close to 2000. Good things are happening in Florida!

Oh, relatable. I live in Iowa. I do l live in that one tiny blue dot (Polk County) in a red state, but.... it's pretty bad here. I'm tearing up even typing this - every day this shit just wears you down.

This is the first I heard you’re moving to Southwest Florida, Shannon! I’ve lived in Sarasota since the 80s. I’ve watched Florida go from the swingiest swing state to dark red. I hope having you here can help shift things back to purple.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

― Frank Herbert, Dune

Folks:

At noon today, the great Joy Reid will interview the phenomenal Director/Writer Ava DuVernay of Selma and Origin [based on the book, Caste] fame. It should be a relevant discussion for our current circumstances. Here is the link to the Substack Live info: https://www.joyannreid.com/p/wednesday-at-joys-house-ava-duvernay .

Thanks.

CARTHAGO DELENDA EST (via nonviolence).

P.S.: Do the following now! FIRST, TEACH CIVICS. Second, register voters. THIRD, TEACH CIVICS. Rinse. Repeat.

P.P.S. : Dolos or the nation, you can only have one! The other side must choose! The madness will only subside until the next urge for “narcissistic supply” arises. This is not 4-D chess. It is most likely a form of something else. The new media must promote mental health practitioners— like the MSM has lawyers and other professionals.

It’s not left vs right, it now boils down to the 99% vs the 1%. Even if a foundation in reality has us wanting go nose to nose with Trump voters, we must instead go wallet to wallet.

We both will be harmed equally. They must come to understand that they didn’t win last November,

#OnlyBillionairesWon

Progressives must ask Trump voters to convince their friends to join them in calling their GOP representatives and chewing them out. Here’s the rhetoric to use:

“You’ve said throughout your career that you’re a ‘family values’ candidate. But by refusing to take back the authority to control tariffs, you’re telling me that you don’t value the economic security of my family Much at all. You only help out families with seven-digit bank accounts.“
