Shirley ran for president the year I turned 18 and became eligible to vote. It was so exciting, not only to have a woman, but a black woman in the race. It was epic and historical and precedent setting. Then Nixon was elected, and we started this long downhill slide to where we are now. After 52 years, we’re finally getting our chance to turn it around!

Shannon, this is an important post. I hope the U.S. can celebrate Chisholm's 100th birthday by electing Kamala Harris as President. That would be the best celebration. Thank you for discussing how important Chisholm's running was and still is. These are exciting times. Yes, it is going to take a strong woman to save the country. And I believe Harris is it.
