In a final gasp to save democracy, Dems across Virginia are running canvasses all day. We have 3 launches on Tuesday. We'll finish about the time the polls close. Then,, we can do as Tim Walz says, and rest.
I voted early and I tracked my ballot - itβs in! On Election Day, Iβll be quietly meditating, alternating with nature walks - and Iβll take a peek at the election reporting later in the day.
This is helpful. I like the idea of taking a peek, rather than watching. I want to plan a comfy evening for myself with a good book, maybe a movie with my wife, and snuggle in.
I voted early - in person. I'll spend Tuesday onboarding a new client (will provide active distraction!), and I have my calendar blocked as a "digital detox day" - I'm planning to spend as little time on social media as possible through the day (we'll see how that goes!). My plan for Wednesday is to have groceries delivered and then spend the day chef-style meal prepping so that I can be busy in the kitchen and not scrolling.
I'm working outside the polls all day in southwestern PA at my Dem booth. There was voter intimidation occurring during early voting by some MAGA faithful so I am actively working to get controls in place with authorities and recruiting family and friends to be present with lots of eyes and ears.
Iβve already voted because I am going to be working the polls election day! I have to be at my polling place at 5am to get set up. The polls wonβt close until 7pm. Thatβs a lonnnng day!
I've not watched TV news since 2020 election night. Next Tuesday evening, I will turn it on and channel hop fully knowing that the result may not be available that night. I will spend the day doingo my best to distract myself.
Voted early by mail because I won't be home on Election Day. I will be spending it with my 88-year-old Mom, who says, "We have to do it this time. I am 88 years old and I need to see a woman president in my lifetime." For the record, she says she plans to be alive in four years, but she wants to get it done this election cycle.
I love your mom's praise "We have to do it this time.. I am 88 years old and I need to see a woman president in my lifetime." I agree...given that I am 81!
I voted early in Texas with my 9-year-old daughter by my side! On Tuesday, I planned an Emotional Support Snacks and Chat at work, and then that night my husband and I will be watching the returns...probably with wine.

This is great!
Spending the day with the women who fundamentally shaped this election.

This is such a great example of truly taking care of yourself.

Distracting ourselves seems to be a theme for most of us.
Voted early. Going for a LONG hike that day, taking the next day off. Watching returns with my family and my 100x group texts.
I voted early. We will be flying to our winter home in Mexico on November 5 and hoping we donβt have to remain there!
Sounds like the exact relaxation you'll need.
Perfect!!!!
Voted early. Going to spend the day wringing my hands and visiting a good friend.
Hopefully being with your friend provides solace.

Love this - especially that your daughter went with you to vote.
