I believe we all have at least 74,936,918 glimmers of hope in America moving forward. That is the number of registered voters who voted for Kamala Harris, just 1.5% less than voted for Trump. That's a LOT of hope!
My daily joy is the look of excitement as my kids open the Advent calendar every morning. They jump out of bed to see what is the day's surprise and have been thrilled with every one, even when it's simply been to have hot chocolate after school, get a new ornament, etc. They're very simple but they know that I've worked hard at planning every day a little something.
My daily glimmer of hope and comfort revolves around my family, particularly our 3 granddaughters ages 16, 7, and 7 weeks. Whenever I have a moment to reflect and take a moment to view photos of the grands, regardless of what I am going through or how my day looks, the smile of inner peace on our youngest granddaughtersโ faces puts everything into perspective. We arrive on earth experiencing inner peace and this peace that is greater than our understanding is the inner peace we should work to enjoy every day. Joy is the result of inner peace. I do not equate inner peace and joy with the trappings of external factors such as careers, wealth, relationships, etc. According to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama (The Book of Joy), the essence of joy comes from within.
History. The number of times decency has found a way to come back even in deeply difficult times. Friends and family (including our cats) - and the number of people I see reaching out to each other, wanting to help and be in community. And the element of surprise - knowing there are champions and allies and heroes we haven't even imagined yet, who will show up in time.
Seeing people grant wishes on our site. We are all about joy, all year long at onesimplewish.org. It reminds me how many good people there are in the world when the news does the opposite
The beginning stages of creating the Keep Going Together group to work locally to ease harm and suffering by supporting non-profit organizations. The interactions and inspirations are getting me through.
Movement always helps, particularly if I can be outdoors. I'm grateful for trees that breathe with us. And, my dog Sully. His joy and love are unfiltered and boundless.
On days I can get to my favorite trails to run before the sun sets, the sunlight of early sunset filtering through the colored leaves literally takes my breath away some days. (We still have color for another week or two in the deep South.) It's a wonderful reminder of the daily miracles that surround me.
A lovely Glimmer for me is also centered around my family. They truly brighten each day!
Our nightly routine has been intentionally extra-cozy this fall and winter (especially during the last month), and I am finding a much-needed joy infusion each night when we follow our little reading, talking, snuggling bedtime routine. ๐ love this prompt - thank you!!
My dog Chloe. With my hand on her softly breathing belly, I know it will all be ok.
I was coming to say the same thing! My dog Zoe. ๐พ๐
This is so sweet.

I love this.
I wrote about my rescue pigs, Willie and Ziggy. They ground me and bring me joy.
If you would like to share my joy, there are photos there - the story is on my substack :)
I also have three amazing rescue dogs. Thanks for asking
This is great <3

"The essence of joy comes from within." Love this.

Walking my dogs at night to look at Christmas lights. Small little glimmer that helps me process the day and brings me a little peace
A perfect way to end the day.

I see hope in getting senators to do their job. Draft letter to your senators included in this link: https://bit.ly/3ZCJzyy
Definitely my sweet dog Romero! Coming home to his jumping up and saying hi makes it all worth while.
Adorable!
