Why do charismatic podcasters and YouTubers have such sway over young men, and what can we do about it?
What messages does it send to boys when they see that someone can be brag about - and be found guilty of - sexual assault and still get elected President?
Will this election be a catalyst for people to do more connect with boys and young men? What stategies do you think would be most effective?
I have been reading that the Dem turnout was subpar yet we saw so many posts about dramatic increased turnout in so many states. Were all those people in line Rs?
We can see that approximately 140MM adults voted in this election. The US has approximately 240MM people age 18+. How do we get outreach to ensure that more voting happens? I believe many of those who did not vote could have helped the cause of democracy.
Respectfully, I don't agree. Trump ran far better among the irregular/infrequent voter demographic than Harris. That said, I agree overall that greater political participation is desirable. The US (led by the R's) is the only advanced country that routinely passes laws to discourage political participation.
It looks like Baby Boomer women will never see a woman president. As a Gen Xer, I was hoping to see a woman, gay and Latinx president in my lifetime, but that seems less and less likely. Any thoughts?
Is one of the ways to move forward first seeking to understand why people voted for him? I’ll never stand on the same side as the oppressed becoming more oppressed. But I’m asking myself how to hold space for productive conversations when life is full of nuanced stances. That feels very conflicting to me.
Yes, the Supremacy Clause of the US Constitution says federal law is the "supreme law of the land." So even a (properly promulgated) federal rule would override state constitutions.
Why do Republicans seem to have a lock on voter’s opinions about who is best for the economy? It seems like a false but deeply ingrained narrative. (Trump inherited Obama’s great economy; Biden inherited Trump’s bungled Covid response and made great strides to improve it.) How do we correct this going forward? Can we? Especially in a media environment that’s increasingly silo’d to reinforce existing beliefs?
I think for the huge majority of voters, it's much more about answering the question, "who best feels our pain?" Trump, wrongly in my view, was seen as the guy who felt their pain and would fix it. When JD Vance was interviewed and said, in essence, "if I have to make a story to describe the American peoples' suffering, then so be it," I was thinking, he's a fool, he just admitted to lying. Trump/Vance voters were cheering him on with a "hell yeah."
I think it’s both and. But I appreciate your thinking here because it taps into the strength of an emotional appeal over an intellectual approach of trying to educate people about policy and political history, which seems like an uphill battle and not what moves people to the polls.
How do we know Trump didn’t cheat? It was reported prior to the election that right wing poll workers were installed in swing states. I think votes in those states should be audited and verified.
Harris received 13.2 m less votes than Biden did in 2020. Trump received 1.5 m less votes in 2024 than he did in 2020. What happened to the 13.2 m Democrats that didn't vote? With all the effort with GOTV during the campaign, why didn't 13.2 m Democrats not vote for Harris?
I feel like our message didn't meet so many voters. I'm interested in crafting a new message that really does cast the Dems as the agents of change. Thoughts?
Shannon, thank you for all your advocacy this entire election cycle and for all the work you've done for gun control. Thank you also for creating this space to hear our concerns.
3 questions and an observation, if I may:
Question 1: How was Musk able to buy the election for at least $100 million? How was this allowed to happen?!
Question 2: More importantly…why are the American people accepting the results of this “election” as legitimate?!
Question 3: Is there a way to recount the ballots of women who were bullied at the polls or can a wide-scale investigation be launched into the number of women who were SILENCED and prevented from voting by their spouse? The irony is not lost on me that the elections were only “rigged” and the system “broken” when Trump didn’t win. However, the system is VERY broken, as men were observed behaving badly at the polls (not to mention what went on behind closed doors with mail in ballots) as misogynistic commentors like Jesse Watters and Charlie Kirk encouraged men to control their women and threaten them with divorce if they dared to cast their ballot for Harris. Observation: I feel so frustrated by the narrative that was built, "What did you even do in four years?" She was the VP for crying out loud! People in supporting leadership roles don't always get to make the flashy decisions. I felt this time and time again as a Vice Principal, which was very different from my time as a Principal.
Female school and district level leaders often face this same glass cliff. They're not always set up for success and when they're not "successful", it confirms the negative bias people have of female leaders that they're "not successful" leaders. There's a reason why we continue to have 13,000 male superintendents (92% representation) in the United States and just 1,000 female superintendents (8% representation), in a sector where female employees are 75% of the workforce! When female executive leaders are actually offered the superintendent role, we're not always given the support, the tools and the training needed to succeed.
I had really high hopes for a Harris presidency because our country and world need more examples of effective female leadership if we are to ever achieve gender equality (SDG 2030 #5).
KEY POINT: If the American public is expected to trust in a female President, they must first SEE and TRUST in the leadership of female superintendents at a local level.
I really wish Vice President Harris had been able to wrangle that narrative and really speak to her accomplishments because they got lost in the noise of the Trump campaign!!
With Trump's goal to defund public education and dismantle the Department of Education, I'm not sure a fight to get more female superintendents into power will even be a viable solution, but I think it's a start place to start. I'd love to contribute to this cause as I can. My email: laura at levelup212 dot com.
I don't know how else to say this, but what now? With the presidency, house, senate and supreme court presiding, how do we keep pushing for change?

What is the best way forward for Democrats in 2026, 2028, and beyond?
Hello! Will a federal abortion ban negate state constitutions where abortion has been protected?
Yes, the Supremacy Clause of the US Constitution says federal law is the "supreme law of the land." So even a (properly promulgated) federal rule would override state constitutions.

meant to say "make up a story"

How do we get our own “house in habit” influencer? And how do we not insane when we read her posts comments?
*go insane

Hence, my cheating question about right- wing poll workers installed in all the swing states, which Trump conveniently won ALL of.
I too feel this is very curious.

Hi Shannon! Will tonight's meeting be recorded or is there a way to get the "minutes".
Any evidence that the election was rigged? The results were shocking to say the least 🤔
