I joined Moms Demand Action early in its inception - before it even adopted that name. I went to the march on Washington in 2013 and was among the first handful of volunteers in the Phoenix chapter. I've lost count of how many events I helped organize here and attended here and in Washington. At the same time, I was a Wikipedia editor working on gun-related articles among a gang of pro-gun men. It did not go well. I was harassed - including sexually - on that platform and others.

Why am I sharing this? Because I often reflected on the amount of harassment you, Shannon, endured on- and OFF-line. I am glad to see you've removed that target from your back (as I had to do on Wikipedia). Your ten-plus years in the cross-hairs was more than enough. You have my admiration and I wish you the best of luck on this new path.

Thanks for your leadership. My gift is empathy, being an empath. It comes from a closeness with nature, interactions with children, and my role as primary caregiver for my parents during their dementia journey. There's no greater reward than saving a life.

Shannon, Thank you for leading the way with Moms Demand and your singular focus on creating a more sane country with gun sense laws. Good luck in this next chapter. I’m happy to follow and support as I can. You go, Shannon!

I’m a longtime member of Moms and new Elections Co-lead for my local group here in Northern Virginia. Thank you for starting and running Moms. I am so proud to be a part of it & im thrilled to finally see the change coming that you and all of us have worked for for years. I believe Moms is an important spoke in the wheel of resistance against the Republicans’ agenda of hate & fascism started by Nixon and carried by Newt Gingrich , GWBush’s war, Mitch McConnell’s racist anti-Obamaism, all resulting in the misogynist Trump and proliferation of guns among the far right & ultimately the repeal of Roe and voting rights. It is all connected. But We WILL fight and we WILL win back our country, save lives & progress forward to peace, justice & equality.

Hey, Shannon, look forward to keeping in touch as you continue your work in new spaces. I’m an OG Moms volunteer & former Maryland Chapter Leader for 5 years. Since stepping down into a smaller role in my state chapter, I’ve been researching and writing my own book project focusing on anxiety and fear of violence as a white woman and a mother with all of the historical baggage that brings. Hopefully I’ll be ready to send a proposal to secure an agent in the next few months! 🤞Eager to hear about your new book as it develops. ❤️ And hopefully some silliness too because damn this shit is so serious and hard and if we want to keep going we need that too!

I don't mean to repeat myself, but much respect...and I'm working on changing the gun culture one person at a time. Since I'm an engineer and a nerd, I'll say I'm at 12% of your level. You inspire me to be more. Ok I also like your music taste. And, 😍

I have been watching as you transition, being in a huge transition moment in my own life. I always admire how carefully and thoughtfully you try new things - you are bold, but also smart and I consider you a role model. I'm a former (as of this week) Moms Chapter Leader for Delaware and new empty-nester. I'm also the current head of the Political Committee for my local NAACP Chapter, writer, activist/advocate for gun safety and racial justice and (I hope) soon-to-be gainfully employed job seeker. I really look forward to participating here.

I am a labor and delivery nurse with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. I am a wife, mom, pet owner, lover of books and podcasts. My primary fight is for abortion access and bodily autonomy of all humans.

My blow up points were the 2016 election (boo), being an RN during the pandemic and the loss of Roe. I can not sit by while the next generation of women has less rights than I had.

Thank you for forming this community. I am looking forward to learning more from you and your experience in this fight for our lives!
