I was listening to the Hysteria Podcast that had Joy Reid on and Shannon Watts got a shout out from Joy on this episode, and all three women were discussing why in 2016 46% & 2020 52% white women supported & voted for 'Rump and other MAGA candidates that 100% support Handmaid's Tale legislation...after 2022 & MAGA SCOTUS' Dobbs ruling, it seems we have yet another chance for white women to make their voices heard but will they? Reid & the Hysteria ladies were breaking down white women voter blocs that may still vote 'Rump and Local/State MAGA candidates EVEN AFTER DOBBS - red state vs blue, college vs. non college, religious vs. non religious, suburban vs urban, upper class vs working class etc.

I truly do not understand this, it should be like 99% OF ALL WOMEN from all voting blocs and ages (save for ultra fundy Christians that still hold the slave mentality to their husbands etc) should be voting to support their Body Health Care/Abortion Choice rights as women, now, in the year 2024, 2 years after Dobbs has already affected thousands of women and teen girls via archaic, anti-women MAGA legislation.

Thank you so much for writing this. The world is holding its breath, hoping and praying that democracy will be preserved in the US. Because if the US re-elects someone who wants to govern like Putin , then the world fears what this means for the entire planet.

Already people and business owners are afraid to speak out against Trump because Trump has on many recent occasions threatened to retaliate, a move copied from Putin. If people are already afraid what does that mean when he and his gang are back in charge? Isn’t this the time to exercise your ability to do something? It has been written about many times that when Russians were allowed to speak out, pre-Putin, they did not. Now they cannot.

When you look at Elon Musk running daily million dollar prize lotteries to (through the back door) support Trump, you know that it is up to women to make certain Harris wins a big majority. I understand that the legal scholars are mixed about the lawfulness of Musk’s actions. But at the end of the day he is giving a vast amount of his fortune to people who need the money. So to underestimate the effect his vote-for-Trump efforts can have, is such a huge mistake.

The country and the world need women to act and give us all, adults and children, something to look forward to this coming holiday season. Not something to dread, like Project 2025 and the like.

This just in from my favorite Reggio Emilia school “pause in these difficult moments and think of them as pedagogical opportunities rather than unfortunate situations that need to be dealt with.”

Key words

Pause

Pedagogical opportunities aka aha moments

Dealt with aka everything goes
