Today I’m grateful that I’m still on this earth, willing and able to work for truth, decency, kindness, justice. Gratitude doesn’t come as easily as it used to. As a blue dot in a sea of Florida MAGA red, I’ve found a better way to cope. Every time I see one of those horrid signs or flags I loudly (loudly is the best part) say something I am grateful for.

I’m also a blue dot in FL

I am grateful for my Irish máthair who planted seeds of faith, faced fear with fortitude, and possessed a will of steel and the heart of our ancient warriors. Thank you to the many activists and grassroots organizers for your efforts and mentorship. Today I remain steadfast in a belief that practicing gratitude and taking meaningful action can enable us to navigate this political “hellscape” while preserving our Democracy. Finally, my lasting appreciation to Kamala and Tim for delivering a glimpse of leadership defined by strength, empathy, and a belief in truth and the “rule of law”.

I’m thankful for my new friends I evade since I retired and moved to NYC. I’m so grateful to have such caring, interesting, engaged women in my life. I practice gratefulness by taking time during my morning dog walks in Central Park to sit on a bench and reflect and really take in the people and things I have to be grateful for. And to share with those people.

“Morning dog walks in Central Park” sounds so picturesque.

I’m thankful for:

my family and friends

nature walks

sunsets

the comfort of my bed at the end of the day.

And I’m also thankful that despite all of my (negative) feelings after the election, I still believe in our country and our ability to overcome what’s ahead if enough of us stand together.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone 💛

& I’m working on getting back into a routine of writing 3 things I’m grateful for at the end of each day along.

I'm grateful for tears. I didn't express emotion for a long time. Now I do, with ease. Plus toddler cuddles, frosty mornings, spiritual growth, holding present moments with awe, writing from God 🙏

I'm grateful for being a lesbian. Just about every really good thing that has come into my life was connected to me being queer. I'm grateful that I'm becoming a relic and the next gen of queer folk haven't had to deal with what I did. I'm grateful for the previous gens because holy comfortable shoes, those women were strong.

I'm grateful for ...

• Family... a sister who recently found recovery, two teenage kids who are delightful (when not moody), a husband who is steady and straight (a younger version of me would have balked at this as boring), a mom who is 85 years young!

• Celebrating Thanksgiving with 5 American women and their families ... all of us immigrants living in Germany for well over 15 years. It's hard to explain how it feels to live abroad watching from afar all that is and is about to transpire back home. It is good to have community.

• Our dog, Nala. She just turned one and has brought so much joy and lightness to our home.

• Health... mine, my family's - we are all in a good spot

• Christmas Markets, mulled wine, advent calendars... Germans do Christmas really well!

Grateful for family friends and generally good health. As a blue dot in a blue ocean (California) I am optimistic about the long term future but recognize there will be pain in much of American in the near term.

I'm thankful my son got over the stomach flu and can enjoy Thanksgiving with everyone today. And that no one else is sick (knock on wood!)

I'm grateful for friends and fellow advocates who see and stand by interfaith families like mine; we've lost too many "friends" and "allies" to ignorance and antisemitism in the past year. I show gratitude to my friends and teammates by seeing them and their good deeds, with grace, praise and thank yous.

Always grateful for family, friends, each other and our cats. This year I'm extra grateful for my family's health, living in a Blue state, and the groups and communities I am part of for mutual support and ways to experience joy in uncertain times. Grateful for YOU, and wishing you and everyone on this post peace and empowerment.
